Losing weight is not an easy task. In fact, most people struggle to lose weight, much less within a year. But being overweight comes with its own costs and problems. Most people don’t want to be overweight. They’ll do anything to take the weight off.

But will that “anything” work? Not unless it’s tried and true. So when Tim Spooner had had enough of being overweight, he joined the Healthy Weight Bootcamp. 

“I am 57 years old and fat,” he wrote to the group on Facebook. “With the problems which come with age and the ones associated with being overweight, it has become very difficult to lose any weight.” Weight gain makes it difficult for people to move around, causing joint pain, heavy breathing, and stomach problems. 

“I finally reached the point where I got sick and tired of feeling sick and tired,” Tim admitted. When he went to the Weight Loss Bootcamp page, he “saw real people making real changes in their lives.” Tim said: “I wanted that.” 

After two weeks, Tim was able to stop taking his diabetes medication. He was also able to put on pants without an elastic. Better still, he put his wedding ring back on, something he had not been able to do for years. “Like everyone else,” he wrote, “there are high and low times.”

Eventually, he lost 60 pounds in 60 days, cleanly and without breaking. “I would never have thought it was possible to lose weight this fast,” he wrote. “The lower my weight gets, the more difficult it is, getting to maintain this pace.” His doctor was “thrilled” to see that he had lost all that weight. 

After 16 weeks, Tim reached his goal of 94 pounds. “I can relax a little and enjoy the holiday, with maintaining my weight as the goal,” he said. Before he lost weight, he had type 2 diabetes and high cholesterol. Now that he had lost weight, he was off the medications needed and lost his snoring. Tim’s wife was very happy to see that he had stopped snoring at night. “I feel like a whole new person,” he wrote. “I recently carried a large bag of dog food, and couldn’t believe that I used to pack nearly double that weight when I was fat. My joints are so relieved, literally and figuratively.”

Tim regained some sense of confidence. “It feels great to go out in public and feel that everyone’s not looking at you,” he said.  Tim also enjoyed the different aspects of the day. “It’s so good to feel tired because I had an active day, versus feeling lethargic because of being so fat.” 

The pain in his joints vanished, which allowed him to create healthy exercise routines. “So I dusted off the treadmill in the basement and came up with a new exercise routine that is working for me. It feels so great to be able to move around and have loads of energy with no pain in my knees.”

Tanya Lynch Cooley Lost 70 Pounds in 11 Weeks!

Losing weight can help improve your health dramatically. It can extend your lifespan and also help your quality of life go up, instead of down. 

Tanya Lynch Cooley was able to lose 60 pounds and improve her life by alleviating her diabetes symptoms. “I started this journey at 286 pounds and I am currently 226 pounds,” she wrote on the Healthy Weight Bootcamp group on Facebook. “There is no stopping me.” 

When Tanya started the diet, she was concerned about her dependency on fatty foods. “I am a late night eater,” she wrote. “I am dependent on convenience foods. Everything in my life centered around eating in some fashion.” She was motivated to change her life for her own sake, and also for her family’s sake. “I am tired of watching life happen and I want to be participating again.” 

The doctors worried that if Tanya did not lose weight, she would be bound to a wheelchair. “I have diabetes, high cholesterol, psoriasis, fatty liver, and high lipids due to my unhealthy lifestyle choices. It all stops now!” 

The group encouraged Tanya to talk about her non-scale victories, (NSVs). One of them was that she could now sit for the camera without dealing with her lack of self-confidence. “Over 4 months ago,” she said, “you would not catch me in front of the camera. I was always the picture taker unless it was a face only shot, and that had to be taken at just the right angle. I am so happy to have found this product and have a full body, no filter picture taken that did not make me sick to my stomach.” 

Tanya was also happy that she could wear normal clothes again. “It’s been 20 years since I could button and wear a pair of size 14 jeans,” she wrote to the group. “Happy dance!” 

The weight also took the pain out her back. “I can get off the floor without help, put my shoes on without just sliding my foot into them. I went from close to immobile from back pain to walking 2 miles a day. 

In addition, Tanya’s diabetes stopped being a problem because she dropped all the weight. “I am no longer a diabetic, not even a pre-diabetic, thanks to GBA!” she wrote. 

The confidence helped her too in social situations. “I am going to my husband’s company Christmas party,” she wrote. “I have lots of confidence in my size 14.”

Losing weight can help you save your own life. Obesity is an epidemic in the United States, but it’s one that comes with a fatal cost. People die from being overweight just like they die from the flu. 

Julie Stell understood the risks that came with being overweight, and wanted to leave them behind in the rear view mirror. After 15 years of trial and error, she knew it was time to try something radically different.

Her sister had died because of her weight, at 600 pounds. When she died, she left behind a two year old son. Julie had two children and did not want to suffer the same fate. 

After two months, Julie lost 62 pounds in 61 days, along with 12 inches around her waist. 

“This is by far THE BEST weight loss regimen I have seen,” she wrote. “My first 40 pounds of weight loss was crazy. I weighed in every day the first few weeks. Sometimes I weighed multiple times a day because I didn’t believe the weight loss.”

When Julie started her weight loss program, she didn’t want to repeat the same patterns as before. “I have so much to live for,” she said. “I am not willing to lie down and let life take over. I will fight with everything I have.” 

Shape Magazine writes that 45 percent of those who start a diet abandon it after a few days, because they feel it is just too hard. Some of it was caused by lack of support. 

Being left to your own echo chamber in your head can be dangerous. But also, being left to people who are not very good at supporting your diet can also lead you to abandon the diet. Peer pressure is difficult to ward off, especially if you are on your own.

Michelle Lost 78 Pounds In Five Months!

Losing weight is like leaving an addiction behind. You have to stay accountable to your goals and you won’t believe your results when you do. 

Michelle Robinson was able to lose 78 pounds in 5 months just by sticking by her goals, eating right, exercising, and talking it out with her fellow weight loss hopefuls in the Healthy Weight Bootcamp. 

Michelle lost all that weight even when she had to leave “because of health concerns.” She only left for a couple of weeks, and then came back. But even then, she lost 78 pounds. 

After two months of hard work, Michelle lost 50 pounds and went down 8 sizes. “I can’t believe the difference in how I look and feel,” she said. 

She shared what the group called “non-scale victories,” which were little successful changes she made to her lifestyle and kept. “I have a huge walk-in closet that is almost empty,” she wrote. “I have lost so much weight and I don’t want to spend a lot until I reach my goal. Healthy weight I’m coming for you!”

Another victory she shared was drinking more water. “I have been having trouble getting in all my water,” she said. “I took a gallon jug and filled it with water. I drank from it all day. I will continue this as it helps me see how much I have ingested or how much I have left to drink.” 

The doctor was surprised to see all of Michelle’s progress. “When he walked in the room,” she relayed, “He was asking me about the color of my hair because I look so different. He told me I looked fabulous and to keep it up.” 

Even though she lost 70 pounds, Michelle wasn’t going to stop losing weight. “The more I lose the more determined I become.” 

It was worth all of her hard work. Michelle testified, “I can’t believe the difference in my face. People I work with daily have come up to me and said they saw me across the building and thought I was a substitute teacher because they didn’t recognize me.”

Britiney Whetstine lost 50 pounds in two and a half months while she was a part of the Healthy Weight Bootcamp. She noticed a difference in the way she ate, but also in the way she felt about herself and her life. 

“It’s changing not only the way I look at food but also how I look at myself,” she wrote on the Healthy Weight Bootcamp Facebook group. “I know I can do this and I have an amazing support system here.”

Losing weight helped Britiney to battle her past. “For years I couldn’t go out in public or be around anyone, so I ate my pain and troubles away,” she said. “Now I’m more active. I go around people, I have friends, and even my family is noticing the change in me inside and out. I’m never turning back. 

Not only did losing weight help Britiney with her self-confidence, but also it helped her to conceive a child. It took care of some of the side effects caused by PCOS. 

She worked so hard that she lost 18 pounds in 11 days. Britiney encouraged her group, “If you are at a stand still, don’t just quit. Measure your inches as well. Remember muscle is heavier than fat.” 

Britiney loved to be able to have an active day, where she could ride her bike for 8 miles as well as do 2 hours of Zumba.

Britiney became so confident in herself that she was able to go to college, because of her weight loss.
